The 2022 acquisition by Newfold Digital (the US company behind Bluehost, HostGator, and dozens of other brands) changed that. The brand name and Sydney servers remain, but ownership and strategic direction now sit in the US. Newfold's global track record of acquiring hosting brands and gradually consolidating infrastructure while maintaining premium pricing is a legitimate concern. If you're an existing customer and the service is still working well for you, there's no urgent reason to leave. But for new customers choosing a provider, the ownership change is worth factoring into your decision.
